QUR’AN AND MATHEMATICS
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE BENEFICENT THE MERCIFUL
God Almighty said, “We have not left anything out of the book (Alquran)”
“………. Ask the follower of the remembrance (learned), if you know not.” (Nah1: 43)
1. ADDITION I
God said,…….. “And whosoever cannot find (Such gifts) then a fast of three days while on the pilgrimage, and of seven when ye have return, that is ten in all…” [Baqara:196].
ANALYSIS:
Three days while on pilgrimage and of seven when ye return that is ten in all

2 ADDITION II
God Almighty said, “LO ! those of old and those of later time , will be brought together…………. (Waqia :49-50)
ANALYSIS
This simply means old account and recent account added together = Total sum of what one has recently

3. ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION
God said, “we created man from a product of wet earth, then placed him as a drop of seed in a save lodging, then fashioned We the drop a clot then, fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh and then produce it as another creation…” (Muminun: 12-14)

Prophet (P.B.U.H) said, “The parts that make man are collected for forty days as a drop of seed, then become a clot of thick blood for forty more days, Then the parts become a lump of flesh for forty days…….

THE VERSE STATED THAT PROPHET
SAID
- Man was placed as a drop of seed 40 days
- The drop is then fashioned into a clot 80 days
- The clot is then fashioned into a lump 120 days
- The lump is then fashioned into bone 160 days

Common difference Between Successions = d = 2nd – 1st = 3rd – 2nd = 4th – 3rd
= 80 – 40 – 80 = 160 – 120
= 40 days
First number of days = a = 40 days
L = number of at nth succession
L = a + (n-1) d
At the 3rd succession, n = 3
L = 40 + (3-1) (40) = 120 days = For making a living fetus in a Mother’s womb.
SAID

5. CALENDAR
God said, “Lo! The number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah’s ordinance in the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred… (Tauba: 36)
ANALYSIS:
Twelve months make a year.
Number of days we have in a leaf year = 366 days
This verse comes in the 9th chapter of the glorious Qur'an and it is the 36th verse in the chapter.
36 x 9 = 324
The verse stated, “… In the day that He (Allah) created heavens and the earth.” And God created the heaven and the earth in six days as it was stated in Chapter 7:54. The number of days we have in a week is seven.
6 x 7 = 42. Then 324 + 42 = the number of days we have in a leap year (366)

6. MULTIPLICATION
God said, “the likeness of those who spend their wealth in Allah’s way is as the likeness of a grain which growth seven ears, in every ear a hundred grain ….. “ [ Baqara:261]

To know the number of grains all together = seven multiplied by hundred grains = seven hundred

7. NETS
God said, “…. For thus Assamiri proposed. Then he produced for them a calf of a body ……. [Taha:87 – 88].

- Assamiri proposed = He made a nets
- Then produced a calf

8. SETS
God said, “Then we gave the scripture as inheritance into those whom we elected of our bond men. But of them are some who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm, and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good by Allah’s leave that is the great favour!
Garden of Eden! They enter… And they say praise be to Allah who hath put grief away from us…’
[Fatir: 32-34]
ANALYSIS
Those who will enter paradise are of three categories
C = {some who wrong themselves; have no grief}
B = {some who are lukewarm: have no grief}
A= {some who outstrip others: have no grief}

9. SPEED
God said, “And unto Solomon (We gave) the wind whereof the morning course was a month’s journey and the evening course a month’s journey…. “
(Saba: 12).
ANALYSIS
Speed = Distance/Time
Time = Morning course is from 12 midnight to 12 mid day which is equals to 12 hours.
Therefore morning course + evening course = 24 hours.
Distance = A vehicle that goes 56km per hour can cover a distance of 1,344km per day.
Morning course = 1 month’s journey
Evening course = 1 month’s journey
2 months = 60 days x 1,344km ]
= 80,640 km
SPEED = 80,640 km/24 hours
= 3360 km/h

God said, “And verily we sent Noah into his folk, and he continued with them for a thousand year save fifty years…… “ (Ankabut: 14).
